The right side acts as a vertical scrolling pad. That’s a lot of negatives, but besides the lower price there’s one major positive: If you liked what you read in this review, it is difficult to go wrong with this machine. The only real flex is found in the number pad, but it is slight. This section is a high point for the G50V-A1. ASUS G50V – Specifications and Summary – Centrino 2 Laptop Roundup
The notebook feels somewhat heavy, but is not hard to transport in a backpack. It’s nice to have that keypad over there, but we tend to use the page down, page up, home, and end asud on a regular basis.
The G50V is made of strong plastic and has a solid feel.
On the left side is a unique OLED display, which can display a message, battery charge remaining, CPU usage, memory usage, and other useful information.
Above the keyboard is a series of touch-activated buttons that access various menus. The only real flex is found in the number pad, but it is slight. There is basically no display wobble. It is a much more accurate benchmark for dual-core CPUs. ASUS has a very large selection of current laptops, and it’s not unusual to see various models come and go with minor updates. The G50V comes with several accessories, including a backpack and a gaming mouse. You can see from the pictures that the G50V is larger than a typical Viewing angles are nothing out of the ordinary — they are fine side-to-side, but from above the picture washes out and from below it darkens as usual.
That’s a lot of negatives, but besides the lower price there’s one major positive: This is a nice touch. Overall, the speakers are a disappointment.
As someone who uses those keys frequently, I found this to be an inconvenient setup. It is for those that want to be noticed.
The heat is kept well under control at all times — the surface of the notebook is barely warm, as is the bottom. Finally, towards the bottom there is a horizontal light bar that spans about half of the lid. The G50V-A1 lasted about two hours in my battery test in chipseg saving mode while surfing the Internet. Above the keyboard is a strip of glossy black plastic where all the touch controls are located, and on either side of that are the two Altec Lansing speakers.
The inside of the notebook has a design that is just as flashy as the lid. The A1 version we are reviewing has the following specifications:. We understand that the G50V-A1 we are reviewing should be available through the end ofbut other models will use the same basic design and change some of chipseet components.
They also are relatively quiet.

The T processor is only one notch down from the X, and the built-in overclocking allows you to run at up to g50c. There is ample tactile feedback, with minimal flex. The touchpad is bordered by brushed aluminum trim.
Gamers in the market for a well-priced If you liked what you read in this review, it is difficult to go wrong with this machine. Battery life as we will see in a moment is nothing special, and it would have been nice to get a bit more performance gg50v RPM drives – or more storage from RPM drives. I have to give up number pad functionality in order to use those keys.
