Did this solve your problem? The data will jam up at the ports and the printer will choke. This thread is locked. I have spoke to HP techs, they are guessing, and have been no help. I just turn it on after the bootup, then shut it right back off, let the lights flash, then turn it back on.

I was able to figure out how to get my DeskJet C acquired in working, but not the DeskJet acquired at the end of Nothing can be printed at this point, until I press the resume button, or turn the printer off and back on, then it resets and works perfectly, in Windows. Only after the computer has been off overnight does this happen. The deskiet is connected alone, directly to the LPT1 port.
Alternately, what about installing Win2k3 server on the laptop and using it in place of XP? Do you not still have the CDs that came with the printer?

Not an IT pro? It drives me nuts. No answer was posted, so I had to submit my own request, hoping an answer can be found. I’ve noticed in both XP and Vista that I can set up a share for the network printer because I use deskket rendering. If I can get this to work at home, I hope I’ll have fewer trouble printing at night school.

Sorry this didn’t help. Vista has no problems doing that, but the laptop in question has only 1GB of RAM and runs desket slow. Maybe I’m being too confusing. Microsoft Online Services TechCenter. Thanks Emtronics, for your quick reply.

Sorry this is so long but I would really like to know what the “cure” is for this. Hopefully HP will do something like that about the C. Tech support scams are an industry-wide issue where scammers attempt to trick you into paying for unnecessary technical support services. The problem is a lack of 9X drivers. This site is completely free — paid for by advertisers and donations.

Can I set up Server to print to the shared deskjet the same as I would in XP, then share it as a domain printer the way I can make it look like it’s a printer connected to the XP machine?
I’m operating with Windows I just haven’t dealt with using local printers in a domain before. You can help protect yourself from scammers by verifying that the contact is a Microsoft Agent or Microsoft Employee and that the phone number is 8812c official Microsoft global customer service number.
When I turn the desket on, after booting the computer from a cold boot up usually after sitting off, over night, or for several hours edskjet goes through a noisy ritual, grabs a piece of paper, and then stops in that position. I’ve seen a reference to another printer that does have 98 drivers called a Deskjet cse, but according to the HP site it is a different printer that has been discontinued.
